Is the Old Slab Cut Out and Carted Away?

Where there is concrete already in the way, taking it out is part of the job rather than a separate booking you organise. The old slab is cut, broken up, loaded out and carted away, and the ground under it is then dug, corrected and compacted before the new base goes in. • Exposed aggregate: the top skin washed back to bring the stone up. It wears hard and holds grip in the wet, so it suits driveways.
• Stamped: a pattern pressed into the green slab, reading as stone, pavers or timber with no joints for weeds.
• Stencilled: colour and pattern laid over the surface, a lighter touch around an alfresco area.

Where the Money Goes on a Concrete Job

The concrete is often the smaller half of it. On anything needing real ground work, more of the quote sits in what comes out and what goes back in than in what gets poured over it.
