Which Finish Suits Your Slab

Finish changes the feel of the job as much as the look, and on a shaded south-facing path it decides how much grip you keep once moss sets in.

• Plain concrete: the straightforward choice for shed slabs, house slabs and utility paths, trowelled smooth or broom-finished for texture underfoot.
• Coloured concrete: oxide through the mix, so the colour runs right through rather than sitting on top.
• Exposed aggregate: the top layer washed back to reveal the stone. Hard-wearing, with grip built into the surface.
• Stamped concrete: pressed while wet to take the pattern of pavers, stone or timber, with no joints for weeds.
• Stencilled concrete: a pattern laid over the surface with colour, for a brick or tile look that hoses down easily.

Where a Driveway Meets the Street

A new driveway that crosses the footpath and joins the road is not entirely your own ground. The crossing, and where your stormwater is allowed to discharge, are council matters. Baw Baw Shire is the responsible authority for Warragul, so ask them to confirm the crossover consent and the legal point of discharge for your address before the driveway is priced.
